1. The last time he saw Nick Ballard. He’s read the mission report, knows he got to say good-bye to his grandfather, but he cannot remember the setting, the breeze on his face or the smell of the alien planet or the look in Nick’s eyes

These are lovely. Neat coming-full-circle at the end. What a sad thought, that without anything around him to cue his recall, he might never get a lot of his childhood back. And good on him, not letting Siler take him for the twenty bucks. *g*

And the Time Warp! Wheeee! If he didn't do it, he should have. I'll content myself just picturing it.
