I I ready told you how much I like these on your LJ, but there's nothing wrong with repeating it here. ;) Wonderful list--and the last one pleased me greatly. :)
Five times Daniel lied about a translation (2/2)shinealightonmeJuly 11 2009, 09:29:19 UTC
4. Buried beneath the ruins of the city of Nel'tash lies a weapon capable of unimaginable destruction.
"Well, Dr. Jackson?" the war chief demands, looming over him. "We don't have all day. The rebels could attack the city again at any moment. Does the tablet say anything useful or not?"
This sort of thing never ends well.
Daniel purses his lips and stalled for time. "Well, there's a rather interesting bit here about agricultural development in the northern regions of the continent - "
"Daniel, do we need to have another talk about the use of the word 'interesting?'" Jack is grinning, though, because these antics are funny when they're happening to someone other than him.
"I remember quite well from the first thousand or so talks, thanks."
"Well, than I suppose our work here is done," Jack stretches. "Pack up and let's head for the gate, boys and girls."
5. "..."Daniel's eyebrows shoot up into the air and he starts to choke on his coffee

I love #4, and Daniel's perception that new weapons will not help the situation. These are all very much in keeping with the diplomat Daniel was originally brought along to be.
1. daniel looked at the tablet on the lab table & sighed. he'd been going over it for a hour & it was all in baby-talk! ma-ma, da-da, ga-ga, ca-ca, he'd never seen anything like it. "anything about the ori on that jackson?" mitchell asked from the doorway. daniel wasn't even sure what it was about. "no, sorry." daniel told him.
2. daniel stared at the obelisk, shading his eyes from the sun. they will come from across....the sky driving the serpents before them. he mentally translated. the silvered-haired one who....leads them, the woman with sun-kissed hair who's intelligence matches her beauty, the scholar who's vision is impaired, but will....see father than any other & the dark-skinned warrior who is marked with an emblem of gold. sounds familiar, too familiar. daniel thought. "well, anything interesting?" jack wondered. "um....it says that that goa'uld will be defeated." daniel said. "cool. does it say how?" jack asked

Daniel's figured out how to deal with Vala... ;)

#2 must creep Daniel out more than a little.
Lying to Vala was probably the right thing to do. *nods and grins*
