Five times Evan Lorne disobeyed a direct order pt. 1skieswideopenAugust 4 2009, 00:31:40 UTC
1. The first time Evan disobeyed a direct order was shortly after he joined SG-11. To be fair, it wasn't really him--the local parasites weren't Goa'uld, but they were just as effective at taking control of the human nervous system. Fortunately, they were fairly primitive, and when Evan responded to an order to search the ruins by dropping to all fours and running in circles, Edwards figured out pretty quickly that something was wrong. Extraction of the parasite proved easy, once they figured out what it was

5. The fifth time was three years after his arrival on Atlantis. His team had been sent ahead to smooth the way for trade negotiations with the Vulii, a group which neither Teyla nor Ronon had dealt with, but whose planet the Ancients' database assured them possessed substantial quantities of all sorts of rare minerals that McKay claimed were vital to their continued survival. (Privately, Evan speculated that it was only the scientists who were at risk; from what he'd seen, they were in constant danger of self-destructing in frustration if they couldn't continue their experiments

"Welcome, Colonel Sheppard," said Junior Minister Saeer. She stepped forward gracefully and offered him a hand. "We've heard many wonderful things about your people

These were great! The thought of him licking Edwards' hand or fainting in front of Sheppard is hilarious. #2 is very him as well. I do find myself wondering what sort of sneakiness the aliens in #5 were up to - trying to lay some kind of claim on Sheppard because it wasn't an equal exchange?
Re: Five times Evan Lorne disobeyed a direct order pt. 3skieswideopenAugust 5 2009, 21:14:04 UTC
Thanks! The equal exchange bit was just something Lorne made up to warn Sheppard; it didn't have anything to do with the aliens' nefarious plans. Those were something more along the lines of blood sacrifices of leaders, or maybe using Sheppard to run some equipment. More likely the former. A story too long for a five things list. :)

Oh, Lorne. I love these. I'm especially fond of #4. Lol. I wonder how Sheppard reacted to that. At least Lorne only disobeyed that order accidentally ;)

Obviously the Vulii had nefarious plans for Sheppard! And one of the advantages of this format is that I don't have to figure out what those plans are. (Actually, I originally wanted to develop this more, but then this segment was so long that I just couldn't do it.)

"It must have been the tea, sir." The small part of Evan that was still an Air Force officer shivered in relief. Loved that. Even when he might die any moment, he's relieved that people will know the truth.
Licking! LOL
Fainting. Awwww.
Yes, by all means, keep Keene ON-world, plzkthx.
John's really quick to follow Evan's lead in #5. Good for him! I mean, even if he accepted Evan's warning but stumbled trying to come up with excuses, things could've gone very differently. Whew!

Thank you!

What I really wanted to get at in that one is John's absolute trust in Evan--his assumption that if Evan did something, it was for a good reason. But yes, it would have been bad if John had stumbled there. :D
