A Manifesto

World of Warcraft is a game, and as such is meant to be enjoyed. When the game is taken too seriously, it ceases to be enjoyable for many. In light of this, I want to create a circle of characters that will provide an environment where playing is fun. I want to enjoy all levels, not race to the end-game. I want to explore different dungeons and quests, not camp the ones with the best loot. I want a chance to roleplay and be silly. Towards this end I envision a circle of characters, of similar level, who can progress through the game together. By staying at like levels, it is my hope that anyone can find a like-minded person to group with when they have time to play. As an initial vision, I propose the following statements:

1) We all create Horde characters on the Lightninghoof server.

2) Developing a personality for each character is strongly encouraged. Roleplay can occur not just between characters, but in interacting with the environment. Prejudice against a race can take a character out of the way for a trainer. If a character objects to a quest, argue with the group to abandon it. A violent character might prefer to slaughter a room that could be avoided, or an honorable one avoid a mob despite the possible experience. Bemoan the tragic fate of the latest instance boss, or gloat over our slaughter of...whatever.

3) A mean level will be tracked, and people encouraged to advance no more than three levels ahead. More frequent players will likely have alts, can work on professions, or even keep more than one character in the circle as they please.

4) No character will be kept out of a group for being too low-level. If someone falls behind, they are still our traveling companion.

5) No one can play the wrong class, or play their class wrong. The purpose of talents is not to make our characters maximally effective, to increase DPS or burst damage, or to make us harder to kill. It is to create a customized character that is fun to play. If you enjoy tuning your build for DPS, then by all means do so. If someone enjoys playing an unpopular or less effective build, it makes no sense to force them to play a more effective but less enjoyable character.

6) Voice chat makes playing more enjoyable. Obviously not everyone will have the equipment to speak, but we can at least arrange for everyone to be able to hear. To start with we will use the built-in voice chat.

7) Until a guild can be formed, we will simply have to keep track of character names. I recommend a google group for the purpose.

8) I highly recommend everyone read lfgcomic.com :)

9) As soon as possible (Can we do it at level 1?), we all meet in the Tauren starting area to begin grouping together.

If you are interested, leave your email (and optionally an IM handle), or just go to http://groups.google.com/group/lightninghoof-circle
I'll probably start my character Monday evening.

If you can think of a better name than 'The Circle', leave that too :)
Feel free to link to this, send it around, pass it on to friend, etc, etc.

Edit:
We will try to meet at Durotar starting area. Lets make the 'initial' mean level 2, so people can go up to 5 experimenting and playing around getting there.
