Claw clipping

Jul 04, 2005 01:14

Since Timin is going to stay with me for a length of time, and he won't be going outside, I decided to clip his claws.

This was surprisingly painless. He didn't make any fuss at all! He let me hold his paws, clip his nails, and then I gave him some tasty cat treats.

cat, timin

I always thought it was best to clip claws on a semi-regular basis even for indoor cats.

I suppose you mean "outdoor" cats.

When Timin goes outside and we clip his claws, he comes back with lots of scars on his face. When we don't clip his claws, he rarely has any scars.

No actually, I really meant indoor. I thought it was uncomfortable for cats to have their nails get too long unles one has something liek a scratching post where they can scratch and get rid of old nails that are falling off etc.

But I am the first to admit I am not all that knowledgable in this area.

Makes sense to me to not clip claws if one has an outdoor cat.
