I haven't had time to write much since I started work. Also, I'm in OC on my dad's computer and it makes my wrists hurt, even though I haven't typed anything at all.

Long story short: life is generally good. I have some fears about not being able to perform well at my internship, but I haven't lost faith in myself. Also, I seem to be absorbed in ( Read more... )

I remember learning about the Inquisition back in Sunday school and being oddly fascinated. We used a series of Jewish Choose Your Own Adventure (Choose Your Own Jewventure?) books in class, as a way of teaching what it was like to live as a Jew in various historical periods... I think I still have the one on the Inquisition in my closet somewhere, and I remember it having a lot of unseemly ways to die. ;p

Oh, and my teachers used to get mad at me because we were supposed to vote as a class on which option to pick during our Choose Your Own Jewventures, and I'd always get my friends together to pick the "convert to Christianity" option. ;p

history of violence is extremely captivating -- i picked it up while browsing in a bookstore and read it right there in one go.

there's a movie about the spanish inquisition coming up that you might be interested in...goya's ghosts. and one of the main narrative threads of the fountain is spurred by the inquisition. it's a very interesting, very dark time in european history.
