If you come to the website for KUAR-FM 89.1 at 2 p.m. [Central; that would be 3 p.m. Atlanta time] on December 25, you can hear Little Rock's own Two Jewish Guys; annual Chanukah special.

This is about the 10th year they've done this show, and the sixth that it has been taped in front of a live audience [including me and a couple others of the Little Rock SF group]. Phil and Leslie got started as Local Radio Legends during the semiannual pledge-drives, and became so popular that the station gave them their own show. The first couple of years, they did the show in the radio studio, with call-in features with their moms. When they moved to the live-audience format, they added a local klezmer band.

There are more details at the KUAR website, in the "Inside KUAR" section, including pictures of The Guys. The show was first-aired this year on Monday evening December 6.

The concept is called "meshallach manos." It's not normally practiced (because of what happened to Hanukkah), but I was taught this back in the 1960's in Hebrew School. I was also taught about "meshallach manos l'evyonim" (the giving if gifts to the poor) and it is supposed to be at least 3 different types of food. Ir's more symbolic than anything, if I recall correct.
