This is a good thing! Good thing!

I'm not leaving LiveJournal (anymore than I already have, which is sort of "completely", but I may make some time to keep up soon, for reasons that should become obvious.)

You seem very excited about this so I'm going to be happy for you. Just be sure you think clearly about how you may feel over covering your identity up for three years. If you find out a year into it that it driving you crazy, then you'll find yourself in the suburbs of the middle of nowhere with the added challenge of finding your way out and re-establishing yourself. Also, workin' on the railroad anywhere in the US is going to be a hetero job. You can be in LA and still have to hide who you are.

I'm sure you'll be able to find kinkiness in the wilds of Wyoming. For your geek fix, we're running Westercon 66 in Sacramento in 2013. You know you want to take some vacation time and party with us...

If this is something you want to do, then I say do it! Regardless of whether you feel you will use your MBA as part of your job or not, it is never wasted: education is always a good thing that offers us growth. In regards to the job, it actually sounds pretty neat! The challenge of having to be very private about your personal life is tough and hopefully something that you will be able to handle without a lot of added stress.

No matter what, I am sending supportive thoughts for you to choose whatever path feels right to your heart and spirit. *hugs

Congrats on the new job. If it's what you're interested in, go for it is what I say. Glad to see a post. I was beginning to wonder where you've been hiding.

My boots still miss you greatly. I still haven't found anyone who gives them a great of a shine as you!
