I love that Gwen gets to wear sensible shoes and clothes good for running in. I do not love that this is a major contrast to the other two main female characters so far.
Dr. Juarez is trying to impress when she's wearing heels--she's also wearing a dressy thing and jewelry. In the ER shots, she's in scrubs, and we don't see her feet (going by the other staff, I think she's got on some sort of sensible shoe and booties on top).
Esther is a data analyst. A desk job. It's a business clothing environment, which means heels or flats. Esther's also short and probably not ever expecting to have to run for her life--she normally works in an area that's probably ringed with security check-points and security officers.
Now. If this doesn't change, I will be more critical.
Dr Juarez might be dressed to impress but the poor actress could barely walk! Esther could well wear very high heels at her desk job, but she wasn't at her desk job - she was going searching through archives, which involves lots of walking, heavy lifting and staircases.
ETA: I should say, I'm not criticising the characters. I'm criticising the production for thinking that hobbling characters is a good idea.
