It's actually funny...because for me electronic music is a cerebral thing...I don't usually want to dance to trance, it just hits all the right receptors in my brain and that's why I enjoy it so much.

It's sad that all those stereotypes dominate a genre of music that we all love so much, and nothing irritates me more when I explain that techno is subgenre of electronic music and people who've never heard of Juan Atkins or Joey Beltram or Kraftwerk think I'm talking out of my ass. Their loss.

Long live electronic music!

I love the way you expressed it.

I stumbled on your journal...I don't know how...maybe through the_photos. You have good taste in music :) (I like Ian Van Dahl too, personally).

He'd compose trance. It's such a blend of so many musical elements and ideas. Trance is the height of counterpoint and polyphonic expression.

It's the only musical genre that really heads in new directions.

I'm fresh out of music appreciation class, and I learned words for stuff I always just thought was "cool". Here are some definitions from an online dictionary ( ... )

wow .. that is some heavy stuff... *scratches head*

i find some trance simple (like paul van dyk) and some complex (hmm, can't think of much) but the reason i love it so much is b/c it evokes so much emotion compared to other genres

i don't think trance has evolved to the complexity of something like say... Chopin's Fantasia Impromptu
