Journals are usually deleted when the author realises the following:
1. Their writings don't actually refect their actual life or "past".
2. Contents contained in their journal are harmful to the public.
3. It is a waste of space, in general, on the server supporting it.
4. The purpose is not to aid obsessive compulsive individuals whom are attached to their pseudo-representation of historical events.
5. They are sick of you reading it and judging their thoughts.
