Scars: Prologue

Author's note: First of all...OMG DBSK AND I'M A 2PM STAN. XD Okay...so I had another dream. This one involved Yunho. Now, this story has elements of that dream, but I wanted to make it longer. Underground colony, love story, action, intrigue, etc...but I didn't want to be in it...cause that would have been weird...so I put in BoA and this developed. Yeah, the dream was interesting, but I think you guys would like a story better. So...enjoy!

"I don't like it down here papa."

The boy held his father's hand as they headed down the shaft. The mine was drafty and drippy. It wasn't as well lit as he liked and he felt above being down there. His life was privileged and...clean.

"You need to learn about this. It's in our blood. Your grandfather worked down here, I helped develop part of it, and you shall continue with it's works. We have been in the developing stages of a colony for the past decade. And I know that you," he looked down at his son, smiling and shaking their joined hands, "will aid in it's future."

The shaky lift arrived with a huff and opened up to a hall. It was still being paved on the edges, but there was a small sidewalk down the middle. The boy walked in his pressed suit, still clutching his father's hand. Their shoes clicked on the cement as they approached an opening to a large, brightly lit cave. It was open and there were twinkles of lights along the walls; rooms, he assumed. He looked farther up and saw that it opened up into nearly nothing, a deep empty hole that rose into darkness above them. It must have been a long way down. They took steps further down into the middle of the vast cavity, and saw a group of children. His father was smiling at them, watching them play. The boy himself looked on with an upturned nose, especially at one dirtied little girl.

"What is your name?" his father asked her.

She was playing with what looked like a makeshift doll. It had a rough blue dress, black yarn hair and two small button eyes.

"Boa."

"Like the snake?" the boy interjected, giggling.

His father looked at him with chastising eyes, but turned back to the little girl, kneeling slightly.

"Well, Boa," he said, "that is a pretty doll you have there."

He looked around at the other children looking on, but kept smiling.

"Tell me, Boa. How do you like it down here?"

"Compared to what?"

His father just laughed and patted her head.

"She's a witty one. You could learn from people like that."

The father and son walked off, leaving the crowd of children, but the boy looked back at her for a moment. They were heading through the valley of small homes and businesses and ended on the edge of another wall. Construction for another hall was being set up. His father didn't pay attention to the warning signs, instead staring in awe at plans laying nearby.

"Sir!"

There was a shout from afar, a worker running toward the two. The father couldn't hear him, instead going over the sketches he saw and moving past construction lines. He told his son to stay at the edge of the tape as he ventured further. Rock was still jagged as he approached one wall, paint sprayed along edges where holes would be, future openings to the underground city of his dreams. He felt along the wall, looking back at his son gleefully.

"Sir! Back away! That wall is set to go off!"

The worker tried to hurry, but he had already cleared the area of his men. The boy's father heard a slight ticking as he edged along the wall. His ear drew closer and he turned as he heard faint shouts grow louder. His eyes went wide as he pushed back from the wall, heading back to his son.

"Yunho! Run!"

Yunho was grabbed by the rushing worker, covered by him as he was pulled away from the explosion. His father didn't quite make it, body flying as the blast was set off. Yunho's father landed with a thud, head colliding with jagged rock. The worker and Yunho only got a part of it, shrapnel hitting their bodies at odd angles and heated bits of rock puncturing them. They got up slowly, blood trickling from a large scar across the worker's forehead. Yunho was unconscious, bumping his head as the worker tried to cover him. His little suit had wholes all over it, but his face only had minor cuts.

The boy was in a haze at he looked over at his father, rushing to get to his mangled body.

He never did like going down there.

When he did return, it was nearly seventeen years later.
