I know it's hard--but please, try to remember it's a manageable condition. My Grandmom is ~85 years old and has been diabetic for at least half her life and she's doing fine. She stays on top of her meds, eats relatively well [though she's still on the overweight/obese line] and it's keeping her going great. She's had no issues like blindness or ulcers or anything in the decades she's been diabetic.
Yeah, it's definitely going to be tough but thankfully I have some friends who have diabetes also to give me tips & my husband who just completed a rotation in a diabetes clinic to help me out. I wouldn't really have a clue without them.
Fantastically, probably not. If I can at least get myself down to one pasta meal a day, I will be making progress (I wanted pasta for dinner so bad tonight, but I'd already had lasagna with friends for lunch)
