I'm doing NOTHING, so I don't have anything to write.  I haven't left the house in like... a week.  In fact, I've only left hicksville twice since I got out of school.  Once I went to town and the other time I went to the movies.  The most exciting part of my day is going out and

Just out of curiosity, why is that one of your favourite paintings?

oh, a variety of reasons. I like it more than just because it's pretty (the picture doesn't do it justice; a better picture would show the rich color and detail; and the brushstrokes are just exquisite, to me). Also because I know so much about it. For one thing, this isn't the only one he painted. He actually painted another like it since it was a commissioned piece and the guy didn't like the face, so Rossetti had to paint another with a prettier face (it is nicer, I admit). I also know about the subject matter, the reasons why Rossetti picked it, the mindset he was in at this point in his lifetime, and the stage of his artistic development. The sitter was his mistress, or live in housekeeper (so says he) named Sally Cornforth who actually first attracted his attention by throwing peanuts at him in a public garden. So, in conclusion, I like it because I know so much about it, and it is so typical of the most successful point of Rossetti's career (even though he was on drugs and a very paranoid fellow indeed at the point).

I'm not sure. I don't imagine it will be that long, though. it's not that far from tx to ny. We will be changing flights half way through, though, so I imagine that will make it quite a bit longer
