I was rereading this essay by Kalamu about the Black Arts movement and its eventual 'co-optation' by the mainstream. I had looked it up to reread because i started thinking about how what he describes here does (or does not) reflect what has happened in feminism where women of color writers and activists have been relegated to the margins except
