You know what makes it even worse? That fashion designers, as the basic foundation of their art, are saying, not "This is how I see the world" -- like, let's say, media producers might when they present all-white worlds on TV/movies, but instead, the fashion world says: "This is how I wish the world would look and that's just insidious and so many more shades of wrong. --ingrid_m
wow, things are getting worse.i read a quote by casting director douglas perrett, who is a POC himself, talking about how white girls are still in very very high demand. i think it was in nylon or fader....gotta find the quote. anyway, glad the older guard is stepping up on this. i would love to hear from more of the casting agents, designers, and agencies. also i would love to hear testimony from the new girls coming up like chanel iman and samira carvalho. are they hearing the same stuff people heard in the 60's and 70's or some new code words? Would they even be willing to speak or would it be threatening their already dwindling cast-ability?
