Looks like it turned out awesomely :D is it possible to go back and tighten the elastic at all so you can keep it for yourself?

It might be possible to tighten it as I used the half-elastic waistband tutorial that tian_shi did awhile back. It just means I have to seam rip (ugh). And thanks. :) I even have enough left for a vest or purse or something.

I second the tightening of the elastic. Is this possible?

I actually got the fabric at the thrift store a few years back. It was a really good find.. 3 bucks or so.
