Did you make changes from original plan?
I intended for there to be 2 rows of sailor stripes on the skirt hem and bodice lapels. I knew I wasn't going to be able to get the curve I wanted on the lapels using grosgrain ribbon so I opted for rickrack instead and decided one row looked better than two.
DId you discover something you want to share?
Sergers make everything look so neat! I finally decided to try out the serger I got off my friend (I didn't take any pics though) and it was real exciting! It really cut down on the bulk of the gathering and helped with the fraying (this was a bed sheet and from my experiences they're always poly-cotton blend and they tend to fray a LOT).
How happy are you with the result?
95%. The lapels have a bit of an odd shape when I wear it.... still, I'm proud of this dress and I can't wait to find something to wear it to.
