Skirt number one for my challenge is complete. It only took a day and a half so I'm very pleased!
As far as being satisfied with the completed project I'd say 80% I'm still learning though and I incorporated a few new techniques so that's fun. My seams could certainly be nicer but seeing as my serger is in storage due to the remodel I'll just have to live with the results for now!
This skirt is definitely fluffy even without a petticoat but that might be because I've got some major hip action. Wearing my two polar fleece underskirts with it definitely gives it a more cupcake shape which is fun. I based this skirt off of this tutorial:
http://miscy.livejournal.com/7686.html I was originally going to do two elastic channels like she did but in the end I just used 1/2 inch elastic and one channel. The ruffles at the bottom could be better. I ended up just gathering them while I sewed. Probably not the best way to get a consistent result but all my attempts at pleating them just sucked. If any know of a good pleat calculator I'd love to see it.
Not sure which skirt and fabric I'll be using next. It's always an adventure around here!
Edit: here is a link to a casual outfit with this skirt
