But my sister called me up this morning to ask if I'd heard about JKR's Dumbledore confirmation.
To which I responded: "well yeah, but I already talked to you about how obvious the subtext... wait, WHAT? SHE CONFIRMED IT!?!"

I do so love your fandom rantings, dear. XD I totally agree with everything you said, shippers take things waaay too seriously. I mean, even though I shipped Remus/Sirius, I still thought Remus/Tonks was very very cute, and totally supported it instead of wigging out that my ship was...sunk. :P And, IMO, the HP universe would've been soo hilarious is Harry did indeed end up with Draco in the end. XD

P.S. I HATE SIRI TAACHI WITH A PASSION!!! And not simply because I'm so pro-Obi/Qui, but because she was soo flat and Mary Sue-like as a character...not to mention that Star Wars EU pretty much takes everything that was established in the canon (i.e. the movies) and completely fucks it over. Every time a "New Jedi Order" fan tries to tell me that Jacen Solo is the real Chosen One, I die a little inside...and have to fight the urge to kill them. :P

It's not that I have anything against Remus/Sirius. I used to be a bit of a R/S shipper (and I do still enjoy it) but going so far as to demand that it be made canon is bordering on Harmonian-delusional. :P

I do worry sometimes that slash fandom is anti-feminist in a way. I've seen some truly great female characters (like Tonks) utterly bastardized by fandom because, in finding love, they end up sinking fandom-based slash ships, thereby sparking the hate of masses.

LOLOL. Really though, it would. It is the most bizarre and funny thing when canon slash crops up contrary to expectations.
Like when I watched Kinsey for the first time and suddenly Liam Neeson started making out w/ Peter Sarsgaard and I was liek "HOMG WHUT I CAN HAS SLASH!?!?" It was TEH HAWT in such a surreal way... XD

Why is slash fandom always about the intolerance of het. pairings? Especially since most of us yaoi/shounen-ai fans are heterosexual women. Isn't that just a tad hypocritical of us?

I hate it SO MUCH when people bash straight pairings! Come on, people! If it's clearly meant to be in the story, then it is MEANT TO BE. -_-

Yaoi/shounen-ai pairings: the vast majority of all pairings. Because let's face it, everyone (every male, anyway) is gay for each other. Even if it goes beyond all logic.
Straight pairings: "BOOOOOO!" *HISS* "RAAAH!" "BURN IT WITH FIIIIIRE!"
Yuri/shoujo-ai: only found in the deepest, darkest corners of the internet (if you look hard enough) *grumble*

Actually, some guy I knew online was telling me once how he shipped Kairi/Naminé, and that there was NOTHING out there for it. Which is really odd, since, while it's not really my thing, the pairing does have merit and some substantial evidence in canon.
And then, in the same fandom, there's TONS of Axel/Demyx, which is the stupidest pairing ever because Demyx is a lewser and it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. Axel has never even SPOKEN to Demyx in KH canon, or been in any of the same scenes as him. O__O;

Sorry. I am seriously ranting now, and should probably get some sleep. xD;

Actually, I always thought that Sora / Riku had way more chemistry than Sora / Kairi. Sora sees Kairi again and it's like, "Yay! You're back!" He sees Riku and it's like, "OMG DON'T EVER LEAVE ME AGAIN!"

xD; You are completely right in that respect. (Sora/Riku/Kairi is serious OT3.)

However, I really like Kairi as a character, so I was annoyed to see people on devART drawing pictures of her drowning and such just because she and Sora finally got it together.
Nomura likes to tease us with the slash though. It's all very deliberate. ;3
He ships Squall/Sephiroth. Those character art poses can't be coincidental.
