He is for sure dead, because McManus questions Beecher about the death later...making sure that it was in fact an accident, and that Beecher did not push him off.

It's so wild that my first foray into fanfiction and truly passionate interest in the whole M/M thing was OZ, I remember watching the first season sooooo long ago and just feeling so damn sorry for Beecher, then the whole Keller thing came into play in the 2nd season and damn I was lost. Completely and utterly lost. Sadly,by the time the last season came around, I was not even really watching because Brian and Justin had completely taken over my ability to watch anything else (and of course they were on at the same time every Sunday - thank you HBO and SHO for doing that....NOT).
Anyway, wonderful to see people talking about it even now.
