LJ birthdays and book horrors

Apr 15, 2021 13:42

In honor of LJ's birthday they are giving out a card with an event that happened the year you started your blog! Mine started in 2003, which doesn't seem that long ago until you realize IT WAS 18 YEARS AGO OMG. 18 YEARS of journaling here. That seems CRAZY.

On the book front: noted. Will avoid like the plague.

I joined LJ in 2005, and had enough issues realising how many years ago that was! My son was almost three, and now he's a great big tall nearly 19 year old! My fact was who won Formula 1 in 2005 (I can't remember but it's in my post), which is appropriate only because my hubby likes F1, and it's one of the only sports that ever gets looked at in my house! I was just grateful it wasn't about any other sport! LOL!

In 2003 I was living in a one bedroom apt that had been recced by a coworker and I had Cassie, of course. (my cat) Let's see. I worked at Money Mart, cashing cheques for a fee, but have no idea what location I was in at that point. I was hugely into QaF and writing fanfic and having show discussions constantly. That's about all I know for sure!

OMG I read that book! I was so disappointed and nauseated that I wound up skimming the last half the book, thinking it couldn't get worse. <--so wrong

I'd never thought to label it torture porn, but you've got that exactly right. I'd kind of been hoping for something like Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Boy, was I wrong!

Right??? I thought it would be like a good group or person who encounters a mix of good and bad people. Not *unrelenting torture* with absolutely no redeeming qualities. I mean, the writing wasn't even good!!

Oh wow. I started a journal in 2004 but deleted it and started this one at the end of 2006. i'll have to check mine out.

It's rare a book gets no stars. I won't be reading that one.

Right? I had started to argue with a friend a while back that the '90s weren't "retro" until I realized that 1990 was THIRTY YEARS AGO. No idea how that happened. LOL
