Wow, you've got off to an excellent start!
I like the sound of The Finest Hours. I really like Casey Affleck.

Yeah, I'm trying to stay on top of things, and I got a bunch of movie gift cards for Christmas. :)

I don't know if I've ever seen Casey in anything else, but he was excellent in The Finest Hours.

Always love your scorecards!

I'd already made up my mind not to see The Revenant, but your review gave me a whole list of new reasons. Yay!

I haven't seen the movie of The Jersey Boys, but I saw the show in Las Vegas. I was so unexcited. I guess do-wop just isn't my thang.

Putting The Finest Hours on my To See list.

And Book 3!!! Can hardly wait. You know Pacat wrote fanfic, don't you? The series is AR of Dorothy Dunnett's Lymond series. It's not so obvious in Book 1, but in Book 2, where she writes about Laurent's head gleaming golden in the sun...oh yes! Laurent is a great play on Lymond, and Damien becomes a Jerott who is able to give in to his attraction to Lymond.

I'll see you after the 2nd; any posts will give plenty of Spoiler warnings. FanSee

Yeah, I am totally perplexed as to where all the praise for The Revenant is coming from. It's one of those Important Movies, I guess.

And in exact contrast to you, I would LOVE to see Jersey Boys on stage. It played in Toronto last year but that was the Year of Hell so I had no money for anything. Maybe it'll come around for me again.

OMG CAPTIVE PRINCE VOLUME THREE!! I am so stoked. I do remember you mentioning that about Pacat being inspired by Dunnett before, because I then went and downloaded the Lymond series. Aaaand I got about two chapters into the first book and gave up. WHAT THE HELL KIND OF LANGUAGE IS THAT, NANCY? I mean, I do not normally have trouble with either older works or dialect -- it can take a bit to get into the swing of the cadence or whathaveyou, but with Dunnett... I literally did not understand what I was reading. That has NEVER happened to me before.

Yay for a good start to your 2016 goals!

I didn't hate Captain America 1 but it's not a great film. Seeing it did help me to understand why Cap feels so connected to Bucky when he discovers his oldest friend is now the Winter Soldier - which is the MUCH BETTER film.

I've had another friend recc The Captive Prince books. Hope to read them at some point this year.

Yes, I think the only upside to the first Cap film was the friendship between Steve and Bucky, which you needed to know to understand the second film. Also Steve is SO straightlaced that I find him boring. LOL

I cannot recommend Captive Prince highly enough. Book One is good; Book Two is INCREDIBLE. Go. Read!!!

Every time I see Casey Affleck I think, oh yeah, I forgot how great he is. A very underrated actor. Check out Gone Baby Gone.
