GOALS FOR 2016

01. Health
A. Get back on track with weight loss. I'm not going to set a goal weight at the moment, nor am I going to set a workout goal. Basically at this point my goal is to get back into the right mindset to start -- because without that, it is doomed to failure. So the goal is essentially to update this goal at the 3 ( Read more... )

I like your goal :) Last year I had a goal for books and kept track of how many I read (37), but this year I'm adding a list of movies and series TV, just to keep better track.

Best of luck for these goals and a successful 2016!

Sounds fun. I love reading other people's thoughts on the books/movies/TV shows they enjoy and often find good recs that way.

On the weight-loss goal, I only had about 25 pounds to lose but I did it and have kept it off for about 5 years. I've found that the only way to be happy long-term is to come up with your own personal diet & exercise plan rather than subscribing to some off the rack plan that's just not going to be that good a fit over time ( ... )

Oh yes, I've done it before... I just gained it all back again. LOL I don't believe in diets, they don't work. For me, it's just simple math. A pound is x calories and the body burns y calories per day, so you must simply burn more calories than you eat. The math is easy, it's the motivation that's difficult.

Last time I used fitday.com to track my calorie count and my calories burned. But I will check out cronometer as well. Thanks for the rec!

Good luck with everything! I sure need to get back on track with some exercising. Was thinking about getting a book on tape and only listening to it while on the bike or walking. Maybe that will inspire me!

That's a good idea. When I was doing the exercise bike religiously, I would bike for the duration of an episode of a TV show I was watching. For a long time I would only allow myself to watch if I was on the bike, and that worked like a charm for me.

That's probably a better idea - there's a few shows I'd like to watch.

Aw, I missed our project management meeting this year. *sniff*
These look like good goals. I'm glad your 'weightloss mindset' goal has a date on it, that will be key to actually bothering. I'm a little confused as to why the movies goal isn't simply "25 new movies" - or a list of specific movies you think you should see - but then the books goal, be they new or old, makes total sense to me so what to I know? LOL

Good luck! I'm looking forward to an update...

You did, but aside from the goal of "setting a goal to later set a goal" in the weight dept, nothing much changed. My Action Plan is set and ready to go! LOL

And yes, the books and movie goals are essentially the same thing. I just didn't physically count the number of books on a shelf and subtract that number from the total. But see, reading is EASY. I don't feel guilty if I'm re-reading something I love... but I do feel guilty if I'm re-watching a movie I've seen a dozen times when there's 10 new-to-me movies sitting there that I COULD watch. So now I just get to count evvvverrrrything. Wheeeee.
