also, what is it about smell in writing? I know it's a powerful sense in life, but there's something about taking it apart and breaking it down into words that's so much more striking than describing how something *looks*.
- for somebody who can't smell anything...you do this like a goddess lol.

It's also cool that Merle is a good big brother.

I love how you write Daryl SO MUCH! And this line just killed me: Daryl ain't sure what that is, but it sounds like something he'd like to have.
OMG MY HEART! STOP BREAKING IT! (NO, DON'T STOP ACTUALLY) "And about how sometimes he still sees their ma out of the corner of his eye, watching him with one hand on her hip and a cigarette dangling from her fingers, and how when he turns real quick to look at her she's never there. He wishes he could explain that his greatest fear is that once they're settled into this new house out in the sticks, ma will stop coming around."
I love everything about this. How Merle is not really understanding and good at his job, and I kinda feel he's going to lead Daryl into so many bad decisions but at the same I feel all awwwwwwwwwww inside because in his own way he's trying.
Lovely headcanon!
