Seminar is closing :(

May 01, 2012 16:05

It was announced today that Seminar is ending its run... on Sunday. HOLY. SHIT. We are just sneaking in under the wire. I feel soooo bad for Justin (and Jeff) because the play's grosses dropped off pretty heavily once Alan Rickman left the cast, and that's gotta be a blow to the ego. I just hope that Justin had an amazing time doing it and ( Read more... )

I believe the whole cast only signed for a limited run. When the original run ended, it was extended but Rickman (and two of the others) still left. I could be mistaken, though. It would have been aaaamazing to have seen Rickman as well!

Thanks, me too!

Cannot believe that Alan Rickman was NOT nominated.

Apparently it's a bit of a shock that the play was shut-out. And I guess they were hoping on a bit of Tony nomination sparkle to increase numbers.

(The second dream, btw, was that I wasn't on the backstage list for the meet with Justin. Yeah. WTF SUBCONSCIOUS STOPPIT.)

Was this dream after you found out about Seminar closing? That might explain it.

Okay, are you seeing the show this weekend as in the next 3 days and then it is closing the weekend of the 12th?

I am so glad you made it!

Nope, I found out about Seminar when I got up. But late last night Snick finally got her final paperwork confirmation and the backstage info says "Snick PLUS GUEST" so wheeee! Take that, subconscious!

Snick and I are seeing the play/going backstage on Friday May 4th. Then Snick, Amy, and I are seeing the play on Saturday, May 5th (that's the show we already had tickets for, prior to Snick's awesome auction win.) And the play closes on Sunday May 6th after the matinee performance. We are jusssst squeaking in!

ME TOO!

Well, dang. That sucks. Oh, Justin. :( Is it closing waaaaay ahead of time or did it have an open-ended close date? Either way, thank goodness you guys are going in time!

Yeah. I hope he's not beating himself up about it. I mean, ACTORS, right?

It was originally set to run until the end of the month, and I guess they were hoping to draw people into the seats through a hoped-for Tony nomination. But they play was shut out, so... no Tony sparkle. Hence the early closure. :(
