Once again I spent half my day outside, on a Sunday, in lots of heat and humidity. And once again I want to fall asleep right-freaking-now, but have to leave for work in an hour. Argh.
I've seen Barbara Hambly on your list a few times. I need something new to read now that my Pride month reading is coming to an end. Would you recommend starting with any particular book of hers or can I just jump in?
I love walking in the rain when I'm on my way home from work and I know I can snuggle up afterwards but any other time and it's just awful. I had to trade a walk for an exercise dvd yesterday because it was bucketing down.
Oooooh! Strangely, I'm not really a "fantasy" fan but for some reason Barbara just does it for me! She has written a bunch of different series, so you definitely just can't grab the first book you see. My absolute favourite is her Darwath Series (which I'm not re-reading right now because I've read them sooooo many times!) That series contains five books (in order: Time of the Dark, Walls of Air, Armies of Daylight, Mother of Winter, Icefalcon's Quest) -- the first three are about a medieval-type civilization being attacked by a strange phenomenon called 'the dark'. Two people from our time get trapped in that world and have to survive there, with the help of the wizard who is trying to solve the problem of the dark. The other two books continue their story. Trust me, it's brilliant.
A few weeks ago when I went to the movies, it was pouring rain when I came out. I just slipped off my sandals and walked home barefoot! But ick, I just couldn't do it on Saturday!
