I am going to throw my printer out the window

I have been fighting with my printer for 90 minutes. I'm not kidding. Suddenly, it will NOT print photos. It'll print text just fine. But I put a piece of photo paper in, and it either goes in about 1/2 an inch and then sticks, or it goes in half way, cycles a bit, then 'backs out' the paper (where it again gets stuck). There is no paper jam

How old is the photo paper and where has it been? Dampish paper (and you may not be able to tell it's damp) will do this. So if it's been in a humid location that might be part of the problem.

I've given up on printing most pictures at home, I upload them to a printing site (I normally use Walgreens) and let them print them for cheaper than I can do it at home. Really important stuff I either print myself or take to work and beg the graphic designer to print for me.

Well, the photo paper is new. I keep it on my desk. I just printed a ton of photos using it about a week and a half ago. It doesn't seem like it should be damp. I'm so frustrated. Is there anything I can do with the paper to make it not be damp, if it IS damp?

I like to print my photos in different sizes for scrapbooking. It's just so much easier to do that at home where I can alter sizes at whim.

Try printing a photo on plain paper and see if that works, that will at least narrow down the problem. If it turns out to be the paper try feeding in the paper one sheet at a time. If you have a straight feed slot use that. Some HP printers have one in the back of the printer.

Hmmm. Okay, I just tried that and it will NOT print a photo on regular plain paper. It prints text on regular plain paper just fine. I am so perplexed!!!!! Any ideas?

Sometimes the rollers that grab the paper get lint on them. Gently clean them with alcohol on a q tip or your finger. Then let it dry for awhile. overnight. Also, sometimes there is a tiny bit of lint or paper in the teeth or gripper that is really hard to see. m Maybe that will help. m

I tried cleaning out the little teeth thing. I can't really see the roller. Maybe there's something that lifts up so I can get to it. Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow when I'm not ready to rip my hair out.
