There a setting on your computer to turn it off, but you should also download ad aware and either spybot or spyware blaster.
You can find links to all of them at cnet.com/downloads

If I find the instructions to turn off the pop-up your computer sends I'll post it.

Messenger Service was originnally designed to allow you to send messages to other users on your network but a security flaw allows outsiders to use it too. This is dangerous 'cause if they can get through to send messages, they can send other stuff too. To stop it:

For Windows 2000 and XP:

click on Start, Run and then type services.msc, click ok.

Scroll down the list until you get to Messenger and double click on it.

Click stop and change toe startup type to disabled.

If you have an earlier version of windows, you will have to use add/remove programs and go to the windows tab. Choose the system tools if you have it and accessories if you don't, then click details. deselect the winpopup box and click ok.

Hey severina -- I was wondering where you were lately! Sorry to hear about the computer deprivation. I get kinda insane when I'm deprived of access for more than a few days.
