... but instead I get up, check LJ, check email, have something to eat, watch the end of Fame, pet my cat, wonder why not many 'return of the racers' have posted on The Amazing Race site yet, play Urban Dead, curse random players for not reviving Ted when he clearly has NO zombie skills, check LJ again, chat on IM, and then it's 10:15pm and I have ( Read more... )

I've never read Garp. I read The Hotel New Hampshire years ago, and just last year read A Widow For One Year.

BTW, I've joined the 50 book challenge. I love the idea of listing them out and seeing what others are reading. Thanks for the heads-up.

I really enjoy it too. It's cool to be able to look back on the list.

Have you ever checked out Library Thing? That's neat too. You can list and tag all your books, and then see who has the same books as you, and books that are "similar", and search other peoples virtual bookshelves for more books that you might like. I love it!

The Library Thing sounds great! I'll go check it out. And thanks for telling me they were called Smarties. I was wracking my brain and couldn't find them on-line. :)

The World According To Garp is one of my favorite books ever. I read it and re-read it too many times to count. I just love it. ♥

I read it as a teenager, so it's been a lot of years, yet there was so much that I remembered on the re-read. That's the sign of a great book. :)

Great book choices. I loved "The World According to Garp". That was one instance where the movie was almost as good as the book.

Have you read "The Hotel New Hampshire"? That makes Garp look normal and mild.

I saw the movie first, when it was in theatres (I checked and that was when I was only 13... my goodness, how time flies!) I read the book shortly after that, and it's amazing how much I still remembered of it.

Have never read The Hotel New Hampshire. Maybe I'll pick it up. :)
