It's so easy to get backlogged on LJ, isn't it? I just went through a page or two on my friends list. Made a few random comments. Can't keep up much better than that.

I just got distracted with Ep.310, and then following that there was this movie on Showcase called "Like It Is". It was about this young guy, who has his (sorta) first time with this older guy, and then he shows up on the older guy's doorstep when he feels he has nowhere to turn, so the older guy takes him in, and the older guy is kind of a stud about town, but then he finds himself falling in love with the younger guy and... well, you can see why I had to watch this movie. Hee.

I dunno. I think Nascar mocking and fandom scorn are related. I think they come from the same place in us.

Nope. But the point I was trying to make is that we (the royal we, and referring to fandom in general, not QaF fandom in particular) seem to belittle *ourselves*. It doesn't have to come from outside. We already think lesser of ourselves for liking a show so much, and must find ways to justify it somehow. We must tell ourselves that we are lame and that our interest is silly. Which I think is sad.

But.. moving on... and still contemplating buying more icon space. *pets pretty new icon*

erin21boch: It's frustrates me only because this show is important to me. And maybe that is silly to some, but it frustrates the heck out of me to read "calm down, it's just a TV show". It seems that we (any fandom) feel this need to denigrate what we love... to tell ourselves that we shouldn't care so passionately because "it's just a TV show" and to purposely make the very fact that we care sound trite and silly.
