Two of my fave fic cliches
Telepathy
So helpful when I have so many sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, that this will always pop up. Telepathy allows for undying attraction/love to be said without it really being said in awful mushy ways. Also leads to a good lot of funny moments, and nicities of having one character being able to explore another in a way that we as writers do (getting insider their heads to understand them).
There's a few Telepathy fics in the SG1 side of things (Reveille is the best of them). And I've just come across one for Metal Gear Solid. Which again only leaves me to wonder why I have yet to come across one for Man from UNCLE. Come on. An interrogation with a mind-reading device goes wrong, and now Illya and Napoleon can read each other's thoughts? It could be amazing! Maybe it does exist, and I just haven't found it yet.
Also was one of the first things that appealed to me about Sapphire & Steel. Though they cannot actually read each other's thoughts, they do communicate telepathically. Which automatically made me believe they must do brain-sex all the time.
Hypothermia
Character 1: We're uh...naked
Character 2: Yeah, you had hypothermia, so I had to keep you warm so that you know, you'd be alive.
Character 1: Oh, I see. Well, thank you.
Character 2: I guess this is awkward, what with our pre-existing sexual tension and all.
Character 1: ...yeeeeah.
Character 2: Rather convenient then, don't you think. Us, naked and under blankets, and you all grateful for me having saved your life.
Character 1: I suppose we'd be dumb to waste the opportunity...
Character 2: Yeah... ooooh...
Character 1: Oh! hmm.. mmmm...
THEN THEY DID SEX!
It's so cheap. But God, I love it. I have gotten this with Jack/Daniel, Jayne/Simon, Napoleon/Illya, and Snake/Otacon, just to name a few. Though if I recall correctly this scenario actually played out in that movie of The Saint with Val Kilmer having to warm up the lady after she fell into some water.
