You write Pretorious wonderfully in character. I feel like I need a shower to scrub off the slime.

Another brilliant installment!

I think I worry about Pretorious because in my head he sounds a lot more camp than he is in the movie. That his dialog remains true, even with ppl reading it in the accurate voice is such a relief.

I feel the need to shower after writing him, too. Or once I reread what I just wrote. I skeeve myself out.

Thanks for your continued audience and commenting!

You are my favorite human being right now. XP

This is fantastic! I loved your 'science' bits, and they fit wonderfully with Herbert and Crawford's relationships. :D

Also the way you write Pretorious is spot on. It's totally awesome.

Definitely worth the wait! :)

Ugh, a day ago I thought about trying to do some research and make the science more detailed, but I was like "Fuck it. These movies are about an unknown chemical mix that can re-animate the dead, and the notion that an enlarged pineal gland will make you see flying eels..."

Oh, Pretorious... I don't think he's creepy enough. In my head he's just a camp queen for some reason.

Was wondering when Dan would have to address the "g word". Now my brain is full of all of the sassy gay friend scenarios possible for this fandom

It's something I wasn't sure I was ever going to address. I think in early stories I tried to hint that he's okay with being attracted to guys, but never pursued a relationship with one. Maybe he even dabbled as an undergrad?

IRL, yes, a person like Dan may have more of an identity crisis. I've just been in fandoms far too long and have grown tired of the obligatory "sexual identity freak-out."

Although, Herbert is far more of your sassy gay friend than Dan could be. I suppose that's why I thought it was funnier for Dan to get labeled that way. He's a bit of a square.

Yay, more Broverse! Hahahah, PRETORIUS' TOO-SHORT ROBE. PERFECT. Lololol Pretorius trying to play footsie with Dan. I definitely see the camp queen thing you were mentioning in the comments, but I don't think it's bad for a series like this. We see so little of Pretorius in the film (and for most of it, he's merged with some sort of extradimensional monster, so it's difficult to say what his "real" personality is), so I think you've got a lot of leeway. Also, lol at Pretorius being "caught up in the moment." Right there with you, Edward.I love that Dan has someone trying to slot him into the "gay friend" role, and the moment where we learn that Dan never really thought himself as gay (and who knows if he's been exposed to the idea of bisexuality). He would've been born in, what, the '60s? It's not like pop culture was full of lots of varied, positive models of gay and bi men for him to look at and base an identity around. (oh man, I would love to see Dan at the club. Herbert should go with him. IT WOULD BE AMAZING ( ... )

Yay, you finally read it!

I know, there isn't much of Pretorious in the movie to really inform, and there is that part of me (like Dan has) that for Crawford to be so fond of him, he couldn't have been completely terrible. So I went with campy Uncle Creepy. I think he could be friends with your Drag Queen Hill...

And as I said in an above comment, I'm more just tired of the "OMG AM I GAY!!?!?!?" freak-out in fic, not matter how realistic that reaction would be. Had decided it was far more important that Dan have a "OMG I'm in love with someone like Herbert!?" freak-out.

And uhm. Yeah, thanks again for all the wonderful comments. I was hoping you'd like the suffering and comfort. XD
