Herbert West and Sherlock Holmes

I've actually been meaning to do this for some time. Where-in I unsuccinctly try to make a point about the similarities between Herbert West, Sherlock Holmes, and their relationships with Watson/Dan through screencaps from the '82 Re-Animator movie and BBC's Sherlock

Ah, hell, this realized another thing, so bringing it up now, and besides, not sure how I'd cap this notion anyhow.

Both care about their work to the exclusion of anything or anyone else. Now, in Shelock's case that changes a little through John's influence. Herbert never makes a similar character journey. This could be because Herbert is simply more of a sociopath and Sherlock's not as bad off as he thinks. It is also probably because John is a stronger personality than Dan. As a compatriot, John is someone Sherlock can respect. Dan just continuously cows to Herbert's wishes and stronger personality, so no one has forced a change of perspective.

Anyway, this all leads me to believe there needs to be some kind of Re-Animator/Sherlock x-over. Like Herbert and Dan ending up at St Barts (either updated as younger men in present day, or as middle-aged men and ignoring Beyond Re-Animator), and Sherlock investigates new rash of corpse theft and other strange goings-on. Herbert and Dan are not immediate suspects because at first they seem almost too obvious and well, Herbert's clever enough to maybe make it challenging for Sherlock. And sadly, poor Molly's smack in the middle of it all...

Why did I stay up so late on this?
