Suits: a review

Jun 23, 2012 17:19

Okay so I started watching Suits

Which is basically a show about a borderline-Asperger's pot smoking genius with ~feelings and a yuppie asshole without ~feelings who are in a relationship and who try to make their relationship work

And the show is called Suits because the yuppie asshole buys his Asperger's genius designer suits because he loves him ( Read more... )

life is good, my feelings, suits, reccing

oh yeah I watched like two episodes of that

and it was sort of fascinating because it's a show basically made entirely of white male privilege

so it was kind of like anthropology!

...but really it sort of made me wish I was watching White Collar '_'

Yes, but white male privilege with ~feelings!

hahaha no I did find it charming and watchable (although not as charming as White Collar; idk the power of Neal Caffrey???), but not, like, super compelling or anything; like, I wouldn't go out of my way to download it or something probs

it was just so weird trying to figure out the intentions of the creators

like

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to identify with Mike or not???

am I supposed to sympathize or think he's a whiner who needs to man up and pull himself up by his bootstraps?????

sociological media critique has made it possible for me to quietly enjoy anything ever again :(

It's okay darling, I don't mean to convince anyone of how good it is either, because I don't really think it's the best series ever, it's just that it's been a very long time since I haven't found a show that's simply entertaining and not too plot-heavy (which I love and crave, of course, but I just felt like a bit of change), especially since The Good Wife is between seasons right now...
Re: the intentions of the creators: I dunno, the way I see it, it's a bit like reading yaoi to me...? I don't really watch it with my brains? I know when you're a grown-up fangirl you're not supposed to still like uke/seme dynamics, but I guess I'll never really outgrow it; even if I haven't read any yaoi for years, it still totally works on me!

TBH I couldn't watch more than five episodes of the first season 'cause I didn't give much of a shit for either Harvey or Mike or their ego trips. I just really liked Donna and Rachel and Jessica! I'd watch the show if it was all about them!

I'm three episodes in and I'm still loving it! It's not the best show ever, but I find it entertaining enough, and I also find Mike and Harvey adorable. Yes it's all egos and white male privileges and blah blah blah, but it's all kind of weirdly cute to me? Like Harvey with his tsundere attitude and Mike who's so moe all the time, this is basically all I see when I watch them running around talking ~important~ bsns deals:

Oh, no, there's nothing wrong with enjoying it! (Speaking of, I did go see Snow White & the Huntsman after all, whaddaya want. Canon lesbian kiss ftw! It wasn't amazing, but I enjoyed it? yeah.)

Gina Torressssss ♥ though I'll admit to loving Donna more than I ought, from what I remember. That said, I'm currently deep in a The West Wing marathon, so Suits is ... not really up to the same level, I'm afraid. D:D Aaron Sorkin is a genius shh

YAY FICS!!!!!! YOU'RE AN ANGEL, I LOVE YOU!!!! <3

(oh and I was actually wondering while I was watching if people had worked the D/s angle on this -- because I'm starting to want to read that like BURNING -- I guess that answers my question XD )

J'en ai entendu pas mal de bonnes choses sur cette série, si j'ai un peu de temps je m'y mettrai peut-être un de ces quatre ;;

Tu m'as vendu la série !
