Lions, Witches, etc.

I've just seen The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Before I start dissecting, let me say that I rather enjoyed the film. But dissecting is what I do, so here goes.

If I had to sum up my criticism of the film in a word, it'd be `bloodless'. Literally: there's an impressively big battle scene towards the end, and there's no blood!; Peter sticks ( Read more... )

Interesting, I thought Swinton would be superb after her performance in Constantine (the only bit in the film I liked)...

I didn't really mind the no-blood thing. (It did make me think of the A-Team though.) I just registered it, and then forgot about it. Realism isn't the important thing here.

I may be remembering wrong, but I think the only lasting visible injuries were on Edmund; and again, I may be misremembering, but I think these were from the White Witch hitting him. Perhaps this was on purpose. Unless I imagined it all.

I liked Lucy. And Tumnus. And I did enjoy it as a whole, but there didn't seem to be enough there for me to want to watch it again.
