Oh wow, that was heartbreaking. Poor Dick, and poor Nixon! That has to be truly awful, when your own demons isn't causing just yourself pain anymore :/

I felt kind of badly that there was no happy ending - I'm not used to writing unhappy endings. :\ I'm glad though, in a way, that what I wanted to convey came through.

This was painful, but entirely realistic. Sometimes there is no happy ending nor an ending at all because that letter remains unopened.

I'm really glad you enjoyed the piece. It's somewhat of a peace offering, actually since I was unable to make good on my attempt to write some boot worship which this fandom so desperately needs.
