STORYTIME: grab the popcorn! One night two years ago, I went to sleep perfectly healthy & hours later woke up in the middle of the night with a RAGING headache. Head was throbbing, and I felt so odd. Also felt some water in my ear that was from the shower I had taken earlier...

Hmm. That never happened to me. HOW..EVER, thirty years ago I had a pain in my right ear that was so bad I had to call an ambulance. It turned out to be an infection, and it nearly killed me. What is more, it never entirely went away. To this day, I have to be careful to keep my right inner ear dry; if so much as one drop of sweat or water falls into it, I get a build-up of wax or something like it, that lasts for days and is both uncomfortable and bad for the hearing. That is bad, but what is worse is the suspicion it causes, that one day the full-fledged infection might come back again.
