[Why are you so difficult, Juudai? 
Johan stands on the wooden deck in front of the door to Juudai's room, staring at the door miserably. Juudai is in there; Juudai has made it fairly clear, through inaction, that he does not want to emerge. He lets out a broken sigh.
"Please come out, Juudai. Please."
His friend makes no move, of course. So Johan

*As Johan turns to walk away, he may hear the lock on Juudai's door click and if he turns around he may see Juudai standing behind the door which is now only slightly open. He doesn't speak though, he looks at Johan with a gaze that looks a little distant.*

*Johan's already at the bottom of the stairs when he turns around to see the door a crack ajar and a small slice of Juudai visible behind it. Johan's expression looks almost hurt... whether it's looking hurt for Juudai or at him is quite debateable.*

...You've changed so much since that time... but... I think this is something in which you haven't changed at all.

*Juudai looks upset at that remark, but it's mostly at himself, because he knows the remark is true. Every time something gets too much for him, he just locks himself away and doesn't allow his friends to help him or even reach him.
Juudai opens his mouth as if wanting to say something, but nothing comes out. He knows Johan is upset and it hurts him to see him looking that way at him... after all, Johan is one of his closest friends and the one he relates to the most.
He wants to run after Johan and tell him that he's sorry, but knows if he does that then Johan will be kept in constant danger.

Visibly looking upset and confused with all these conflicting emotions and thoughts running through him, Juudai can do nothing but just stand in silence. He doesn't know what to do.*

It's not the way you think it is. Those people you think will put themselves in danger, possibly even wind up dead, just because you care about them...

*That look makes Johan want to cry, in truth. He forces himself to stand straighter, passing a weary hand before his eyes. That wasn't what he wanted to say at all. He's trying to explain himself -- trying to make Juudai understand.*

...Tell me something. Why do you think it is we haven't given up on you yet? Why do you think we stick by you, no matter what impossible nightmares you wind up having to go through, as well as those around you? Why do you think we remain as those around you; do you really think we do it because we're all hopeless masochists?
