[Why are you so difficult, Juudai?
Johan stands on the wooden deck in front of the door to Juudai's room, staring at the door miserably. Juudai is in there; Juudai has made it fairly clear, through inaction, that he does not want to emerge. He lets out a broken sigh.
"Please come out, Juudai. Please."
His friend makes no move, of course. So Johan

Juudai opens his mouth as if wanting to say something, but nothing comes out. He knows Johan is upset and it hurts him to see him looking that way at him... after all, Johan is one of his closest friends and the one he relates to the most.
He wants to run after Johan and tell him that he's sorry, but knows if he does that then Johan will be kept in constant danger.
Visibly looking upset and confused with all these conflicting emotions and thoughts running through him, Juudai can do nothing but just stand in silence. He doesn't know what to do.*

*That look makes Johan want to cry, in truth. He forces himself to stand straighter, passing a weary hand before his eyes. That wasn't what he wanted to say at all. He's trying to explain himself -- trying to make Juudai understand.*
...Tell me something. Why do you think it is we haven't given up on you yet? Why do you think we stick by you, no matter what impossible nightmares you wind up having to go through, as well as those around you? Why do you think we remain as those around you; do you really think we do it because we're all hopeless masochists?
