Don't worry, nee-san! I'll update these blogs concurrently, with less relationship talk on my DW. I'm not liking DW's restrictions on posting, but it's serviceable if I just want to stay with fandom updates.
It doesn't host images or voice files, so users need to resort to a third party. There is also a moderator presence that is easily influenced by friends among the laymembers; one of the criticisms is that popular users can bend the rules for themselves and people who speak ill of them will be held to a different standard.

I've been hearing so much talk about people moving to dreamwidth. What's the appeal? Is it a similar service? I'm on a work computer, and it's blocked :/
It's an alternative to LJ, based on its own source code. The population is there is made-up of LJ users who felt less "free" here; generally, they're more of the roleplaying, alternative worldview sort. Farther into the fandoms than here.
