Are you afraid of heights? or just the sudden deceleration at the end.

I imagine that it helps with the vertigo :P
I think im afraid of heights - but if I am it's never stopped me
findinh them and lookign about. if I didn't, I'd be admitting that
a fear is stronger than my mind is :)

I tried to combat my fear by going bungee jumping, and also by going on the "mamba" which is one of the highest rollercoasters in Americas "worlds of fun"
I hated both so much that I still feel fear just thinking about it now.

Ah well...cant say I didnt try. :)

Afraid of neither the fall nor the deceleration, but the teetering on the edge part messes with my head & stomach :-/

Ditto. I get vertigo. I used to be afraid of heights. I used to have problems being in a building over 8 stories. I think I've nearly dealt with my elevator fear (getting trapped in one actually helped with that).

Getting trapped in an elevator isn't a lot of fun :/
I get mighty claustrophobic very quickly if there's no available exit from a small
place...

Its the actual weightlessness of falling that makes me feel physically sick. In my dreams I also seem to fall off any ledge if I am within about 2m from it, leading to me feeling like I am going to fall off if I do the same in real life (even if there is a thick pane of glass in between).

I think my height fear is mostly to do with the vision of breaking my legs. I'm terrified of breaking my legs, having them splinter and shatter. When I'm up really high on things (hell, it used to be when i was on the first step of a ladder, but i'm a little better now) my shins tingle with pain and it really hurts and I get panicky.

I dont like having empty air underneath my legs (ie. I cannot dangle my legs over an edge or anything)

I hate walking on piers too, but again that's the falling, breaking legs, splintering wood piercing me kinda fantasty.
