Help with Queer Theory?

My boyfriend is writing a story, and in it are two lesbians. He asked me for some good queer theory articles to read, but that is certainly not my forte. I could do a google scholar search, but I know this is an interest or area of study for a bunch of people on my flist. So now I'm asking you guys. I'm looking for easy(-ish) to read summaries,

Er, I don't have anything handy about this, but my best advice to him to avoid many of the (questionable, at best) tropes that are already there in queer themed fiction. Also, running it by some queer people that he's not super close with would help too.
