Those of you who don't follow me on Twitter are probably going "wait, I thought you were flying to Tennessee today?" right now. And, yes, that was the plan. American Airlines, however, had a difference in opinion

Yeah, I totally get why he did. It's just... at the very least, wait until you're not standing in the middle of crowded waiting area to announce it. I'm less bothered that he didn't want to take the flight than how he handled it.
Oh boy. *hugs you* I hope you have a nice and peaceful Christmas without having to deal with the extended family and the issues that might come up in the course of the meal.
I just wish they hadn't made us sit at the airport all day. I'd have gone grocery shopping before everything closed if I'd known that I'd be staying here for the weekend. :-/
Oh dear. Do you have food and things to eat? Friends in the area? Neighbours who might share their meal?
That's the worst part about trip delays and cancellations. They keep you hanging and hanging and hanging, and you don't know what's happening so you can't make plans.
I had one of my deep dish pizzas in the freezer, so that's my Christmas meal today. I really would have liked to have gotten either some beer or wine, though. Not to mention fruits and vegetables. I purposefully didn't get anything fresh last week, because I was going out of town, so my pantry's a bit sparse right now.
This sounds frustratingly similar to what happened with my United flight to Japan last year -- same lack of communication, and even more pretense that we were going to go somewhere when we pretty clearly weren't -- except that they also made us board and get off the plane several times, for extra fun.
Oh, I forgot to mention that part! After the first delay, everything seemed to be fine. They even loaded us onto a shuttle and took us to the plane. (Which is what they do for smaller flights.)
And then we sat there, on the shuttle, for something like 15 minutes. With no communication. At least, not until all of our phones started buzzing to tell us that the flight had been delayed for another hour.

Oh, ugh! But, yeah, the airlines seem to not want to tell the actual passengers what's going on even when they announce it to the general public. During the same fateful flight, there were a couple of times when my husband called me to tell that on the website the flight was delayed before they told us the new time.
Yeah, my dad was doing that too. At least, until I pointed out to him that they were putting completely random times on the website because they didn't have any clue when or if the flight was actually leaving.
