I've got to admit, I always enjoy watching various social media sites on Comic-Con weekend to see just what news breaks. It's a good weekend to be a geek, most of the time at least ( Read more... )

I was really impressed with the first movie and how true it stayed to the book.

I've been worried about this one, because I saw they switched directors (I consider rotating directors to be the primary reason I can't stand half the HP movies).

That trailer looks really good, though - and I must admit I almost squealed toward the end, because the wedding dress scene is my favorite part of the whole trilogy and it looks like they may have actually done it justice (I can forgive most things, but not screwing up that scene LOL)!

Neither the book nor the movie appealed to me at all. I still haven't watched it.

However, I got interested after seeing this trailer a few weeks ago. I'm thinking...okay maybe I want to see the movie and read the books.

But, I'm like...I never read the books before seeing the movies.

May have to rethink that policy.

I don't know if it will be the case with the second film, but the first one stayed extremely true to the book. To the point where some things (mostly flashback-related) actually made more sense if you read the book first, because it was easier to go into more detail with text than it was visually.

Read the books first (at least the 1st book). It's a quick read (or if you like audio books, the narrator does a very good job with these). I was turned onto the series by people I worked with at the Library and they insisted I read the books before seeing the film and I'm glad I did.

They did a wonderful job staying true to the book (a few minor changes that don't take away from it, really), but there are things that will make more sense if you've read it and some of the stuff that was added actually enhances events in the book.

There was one scene in particular that made me see the scene in the book in a whole other light and added a whole new emotional dimension to it. I was really glad I read the book first.
