I had kind of the opposite happen to me. Some of the hubby's family got so incensed that I would support gay marriage that they unfriended me, expecting that it would create a drama of some sort. What it created was a good excuse for me to lock down my mother-in-law from being able to see pictures of my kid because she kept tagging them so they could see them (I have a pretty tight lockdown because I don't want pics of Thor out there for total strangers).

I was relieved to be rid of the haters. Hopefully, it'll give you that same sort of peace and relief.
