You have more patience than me. Third time would have been the last time for me. But then, I have three immuno-compromised people in my home and attacks like that couldn't be tolerated. I lubs my kitty, she rarely uses her claws while playing.

I grew up with cats, most of whom were half-feral, so I'm used to it. I honestly think that's part of the problem with Beren; he knows that I might spray him with water or chuck something in his direction, but I'm not going to react too badly.
