Hunger Games

So, yes, I finally managed to see The Hunger Games. Go me! \o/

Anyway, I had high expectations, and I've gotta admit that they were definitely met. I've learned over the years not to trust most movie adaptations of books that I like, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Same here! I always go to a movie adaption with incredibly low expectations. Hunger Games more than surpassed them and I was very pleased. =D

There are a few things that I think could have been elaborated on a bit more, but overall I was definitely impressed.

Yeah, I would have liked her plan with Rue to have a little more elaboration. Though I think people got it. And though I really like how they explained her father's death, I'd have liked for them to explore her connection with him a bit more. It's such an important part of who Katniss is. And all.

What about you?

I really would have liked to see a bit more about her relationship with her father (and what happened to her family in the aftermath of his death). Part of the reason Katniss was so close to Prim was because they weren't just sisters; she had practically raised her.

Also, I really wish they could have focused just a bit more on the hunger part of the Hunger Games. I mean, that was the whole point of her plan with Rue to destroy the Career's supplies; without them, they would starve. And in the book, Katniss and Peeta were in such bad shape by the end, so much worse than they were in the movie.
