Wisdom Teeth

Aug 18, 2010 13:52

Well, the wisdom teeth are no longer in my mouth, and I think they've finally stopped bleeding enough that I can take out the gauze. I'm not going to try eating anything for another hour or so, just to make sure the worst of the bleeding's over, but hey. If nothing else, it's not gushing blood anymore ( Read more... )

Let me know if you want me to pick up anything on the way home from work.

You can lock her in my room if you need to. She will try to help. A lot. :\

I'm actually fine right now and pretty well stocked, but I'll let you know if I think of anything. The right side literally doesn't hurt at all, and the left side's more of a dull ache than anything else. Well, except for the stitches. I keep hitting the thread with my tongue, and it just feels weird.

Oh, yes, she's already being very helpful. At the moment, she's moved her attention from my purse back to the dreamcatcher hanging directly above my desk. I expect accidental backflips will start occurring in the near future.

Speaking as a restaurant goer, I would rather wait a little longer for my meal than have a drugged-up, pained waitress with gauze stuffed in her mouth. I mean, that's just me... ;-D

I meant to add "Feel better quickly!" before I hit enter, but my fingers betrayed me.

You'd think that, you know, most people would prefer not to have a server who's obviously just had multiple teeth yanked out of her mouth. :-/

This all sounds very familiar. If you report in a day or so that you've watched most of season 2 of Torchwood but don't remember anything except for one major plot point and a couple vague impressions on account of the Vicodin, I'm going to start singing the Twilight Zone theme.

As for coworker, perhaps she hasn't actually directly observed the whole wisdom-teeth thing before? She might have it in her head that it's like other dental procedures? Otherwise, I got nothin'.

Take care, enjoy the drugs, and feel better soon!

Oh, no, there won't be any drugged Torchwood watching. Now Smallville? Yes, since apparently the drugs will most likely make the show a lot more enjoyable that it would be otherwise.

[hugs you tightly] Oh honey, feel better soon!

I'd offer to defend your purse for you, except it would probably go something like:

me: Back, Racetrack
acetrack: oh, I remember YOU [glares]
me: ohshit

And then I run away. [grins]

There would probably be growling too! Not just glares!

I feel for you. I got all four wisdom teeth pulled (they've grown back...I frightened the dentist by being able to do that!) a few years back. They knocked me out for it--I didn't react well to what they used once I woke up.

I couldn't even take anything for pain, since I didn't react well to that, either.

They knocked me out, but didn't numb me.

Oh God, if these things grow back, I swear that it's proof that my body really does hate me. :-/

His reaction as he looked in my mouth, and I quote: "Didn't someone pull these two months ago? Did I dream that?"

I said he did pull them. He said they were growing back. Given I'm a mutant where my teeth are concerned, I think I really did scare him.

If they ever finish growing in, they might need pulling again.

My teeth are bifurcated, too. Meaning each one has an extra root--making root canals a fascinating experience that only a specialist can do. Because my regular dentist is afraid he'll hurt me.

My dentist actually mentioned that was a possibility when he was talking to his assistant as they got ready to pull mine. Because of the odd positioning (bottom left, top right), she'd mentioned that she hadn't seen that before, which led to him listing a bunch of different weird things he'd seen relating to wisdom teeth.
