Oh, Racetrack.

inlovewithnight went out tonight, and Racetrack is apparently convinced that she's been abandoned and will be stuck with me for the rest of eternity. She's alternating between running to the door at the slightest sound and crawling into the most unexpected places (under my bed, under the blankets on top of my bed, onto the top shelf of my bookcase, inside my ( Read more... )

I have family in the DC area. Well, my stepbrother's ex-wife's stepsister's family, anyway. I could ask if she happens to know of anything, but as connections go, that's probably a bit of a stretch.

I'm sure I'll find something eventually, but thanks for the offer. At the moment, I'm not too bad off. I have a little bit of money in savings, plus I have a credit card from my credit union that has a high enough limit that I can use it to cover rent/groceries for a while if I absolutely have to.

Yeah, I'm sure you'll find something, but I wasn't going to turn down the chance to mention my deep family connection to the area. *snicker* And Racetrack sounds a lot like my cat. Or the cat that has claimed me, anyway, I'm not quite ready to admit that I have a cat.

I must admit, they're very impressive connections.

Oh man, Racetrack. *pets her carefully*

I think it's a good sign she jumped in your lap. I mean, the behavior you described is pretty much how she treats 'Night. *giggles*

We used to cat-sit her. I have to tell you that Racetrack LOVES my husband. 'Night's cat is a hussy.

'Night's cat is insane, that's what she is. Adorable, but crazy. ;-)

Cats are so very weird.

*nods*

No argument here. I've had many of them over the years, and I've yet to find one that wasn't weird.

Right now she is climbing all over my chest blocking the screen so she can purr at me and thank me for being home. Ten minutes ago she was shredding my mattress. She's special, okay?

Sounds like a typical cat when the Favourite Family Member is not home. (Jasper is stuck with just me at the moment, and is asleep on my bed next to me. But when my mother gets back, he'll act like OMG YOU WEREN'T HERE AND IT WAS THE END OF THE WORLD, OKAY?!, despite being asleep the entire time she was gone.)
