I've noticed both episodes I've watched so far introduce a new wealthy landowner with a sprawling estate. It makes me wonder how many the show has introduced before never mentioning them again.
I've often thought that all Midsomer's police need to do is keep Barnaby's wife under constant surveillance. If she joins a group or society you can guarantee some poor fucker from it will be stabbed with a trowel.

Heh. It is so absurdly blatant it's funny.
Not sure how a US remake would manifest itself, but I'd love to see HBO pilot it.
Possibly it would be called The Thomas Kinkade Murders.
